With the combination of their structural form and flowing curves, it’s easy to see why Calla Lilies were thought to represent magnificent beauty in ancient Greece. Their features make them a great subject to draw, and in this class, I’ll show you how to freehand draw the outline, although you can trace yours from the PDF if you prefer.

Then I’ll guide you through the process of layering graphite pencil, in the same way we would with watercolour, to create 3D form. We’ll pay attention to the shapes and shadows, varying the pressure of our pencil, and produce a realistic drawing.
